Position: Project Manager-Rail

RES PM South is seeking a professional within the business with at significant post graduate experience to join our team as a Project Manager. We’re a small, high performing team that adds value to the rail engineering design services offered to our client. Our current projects include the award winning London Bridge ETE GRIP 5-8, Crossrail South East Section and Brighton Mainline Upgrade Programme. We do everything (from bids to delivery to lessons learnt and everything in between) in our small focussed team. Experience of the engineering design process and / or commercial management will be highly regarded and contribute to your success in the team. You do not have to have Rail specific experience.
We are looking for people with the ability to apply a systematic approach to project delivery, pro-actively manage risks and influence others to deliver successfully. Candidates must have some technical capability, excellent communication and strong project / programme management skills, and be willing to take on new challenges.
A typical week would include:
As a Project Manager developing and leading complex multi-discipline design teams to deliver projects for different stakeholders, you will build on your hands-on experience of working with client teams in a collaborative and integrated manner. Your design team may be drawn from multiple offices with conflicting operational priorities, an ability to utilise modern technologies to build consensus and maximise design effort is very desirable. You will be required to lead our projects following the requirements of the Business Management System, as well as, to meet client requirements. Experience of working within the Network Rail environment (or other similar major UK client organisation), specifically in the use of the client systems and processes will be advantageous. You will join an active RES Project Management community which you will be expect to contribute to.
You will be largely UK focused, based out of our London office. Opportunities may also arise to work in other areas of the UK.

- Degree, ideally in a relevant engineering or management discipline.
- Proven ability to lead and work successfully in a multi-disciplinary design team.
- Experience in a design consultancy environment with good customer relationship and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred but not essential:
- Evidence of positive client feedback (no more than two statements)
- Demonstrable capability & experience in Project Management and Project Controls
- Significant post degree experience
- Technical and project management experience
- Chartered membership of a relevant professional body (IMechE, ICE etc)
- APM/PMI/PRINCE2/Six Sigma post-graduate qualifications (APM preferential)
- Client or project delivery (design) experience in the areas of Rail, Metro or Transport
- Experience in a Network Rail, London Underground, TfL, DfT etc or other major UK client organisation environment
- Involvement in PGN / outside groups / committees
