State urban development and housing department (UDHD) has asked the Rail India Technical and Economic Services ( RITES ), an executing agency of the Indian Railways, to submit the final detailed project report (DPR) for Patna metro rail project by September 20.
The UDHD has also sent a final proposal for formation of Patna Metro Rail Corporation, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) for executing metro rail project in the city, to the Centre. The first corridor will be developed on Saguna Mor-Bailey Road- Patna Junction-Mithapur bus stand route, covering a distance of 14.5km from the east to west.
It will finally be sent to the Centre for its approval,” said Sanjay Dayal, special secretary in UDHD.The state cabinet headed by CM Nitish Kumar had given its nod to the preliminary DPR for metro rail project on February 9 last year.
The minister said the foundation stone of metro rail project would be laid in November.Senior UDHD officials said following submission of the final DPR by RITES, it would be sent to the Public Finance Committee (PFC) chaired by development commissioner.“After PFC’s nod, the DPR will be tabled before the state cabinet.
