The much-awaited launch of Metro operations on the Ameerpet-LB Nagar route is likely to happen shortly as the mandatory inspection of Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) has commenced on the route.
The CMRS and its safety team commenced its inspection on Wednesday and continued the same on Thursday. The team is likely to continue the inspection on Friday as well. After the inspection, the CMRS will permit operation of commercial services on the route.
During the inspection, the CMRS will check several aspects, including traction system and tracks and pay focus on security, emergency exit plans etc. On Thursday, Metro officials inspected different features at Lakdikapul and other stations on the route.
Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited Managing Director NVS Reddy recently said the CMRS and his safety team would inspect the route and the entire process to obtain necessary clearances to commence commercial operations are likely to be completed by September 15.
All other safety clearance documents pertaining to Metro civil structures, tracks, electrical systems, among others, were already submitted to the CMRS.
With the launch of commercial operations on the route fast approaching, Metro officials have intensified efforts to complete the civil works at the stations, besides beautification works.
Roof works, lifts, escalators and others at different stations, including Lakdikapul are nearing completion. Metro trains on the Ameerpet-LB Nagar will be passing through the Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS) Metro station, which will be the interchange station for Corridors I and II.
