Stage-5 (Ameerpet to L.B. Nagar section) of Hyderabad Metro most likely to become operational in September 2018.
Concessionaire L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited (L&TMRHL) has already submitted an application for Stage-5 to the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS). CMRS will inspect the Ameerpet to L.B. Nagar line likely from 27-28 august once ‘safety assessment’ report gets available for the Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) system from the Independent Safety Assessor (ISA) Halcrow, UK.
N.V.S. Reddy, Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail said yesterday after hoisting the National flag on the occasion of Independence Day at the Metro Rail Bhavan, Begumpet.
The essential work has been completed on the Ameerpet-L.B. Nagar section (16 km). This section comes under of Corridor-I (Red-Line) Miyapur to L.B. Nagar and could be opened for the general public in first or second week of September.
The about to be opened metro stretch would be in the core of the city, hence the effort of the engineers should be to showcase the heritage aspects of the city in the urban rejuvenation works, especially between Assembly and the MGBS which is being developed by the HMR as a “heritage precinct”, he said.
HMRL MD also said that the two stretches of Miyapur-Ameerpet (13 km, Corridor-I) and Ameerpet-Nagole (17 km, Corridor-III of Nagole to Hi-Tec City/Raidurg) “are doing very well” with an average daily ridership of more than 80,000 and this has been increasing day by day.
